NAHJ Texas State University

Student Chapter

About

This is the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) Texas State University Student Chapter website.  This student chapter was established on January 2008 and became an offical Texas State Univ.  student organization on August 2008.

NAHJ has served and will continue to serve as an excellent source of professional media networking and development for students.  The importance of networking is something we can’t stress enough because it is fundamental as media professionals.  The Conventions are what opens  us the door to great job and internship opportunities and that is why we as a chapter will do everything in our power to attend them.

Our chapter goals consist of :

1. Inviting professional media journalists to offer guest presentations, lectures and workshops;

2. Engaging in activities that will enable our members to attend conferences that require travel;

3.  To organize/establish a student news bureau that can gather and disseminate news and relevant information to the Latino communities in Central Texas;

*4. To start up a Spanish-language talk show!!

*5. Attend the NAHJ 27th  Annual Convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Standards and Expectations:

Members are to pay their dues, attend at least 3 meetings to be considered to go to the Conventions and participate in the activities and events our chapter sponsors.
